Our Religion and World Views aim

Our Religion and World-views curriculum aims to develop deep thinkers who are open-minded about religion and world views. Our curriculum is relevant to pupils, reflecting and preparing them for life in modern Britain. Through our lessons, children will secure a deep understanding of concepts in order to be able to make connections, ask and respond to challenging questions, and learn to respect and appreciate world views that are different to their own. Pupils will consider their personal preconceptions, responses and views.

Children will build their conceptual knowledge through studying religions and world views locally, nationally and globally in our progressive curriculum, enabling them to make links and connections between world views. By revisiting key ‘big questions’ and building on prior knowledge, pupils will learn about how religion and world views are lived experiences across the world, consider the impact of world views on society and have opportunities to consider their personal world views.

Trips, Visits and Experiences

We have connections to local places of worship. Through our RE curriculum, pupils are given the opportunity to visit different places of worship, such as Churches, Mosques and Synagogues. We also welcome regular visitors to school, who are able to give more insights into religions and bring their knowledge from lessons to life.

Parents have the statutory right to request their child/ren are wholly or partly excused from RE lessons in accordance with the schools’ basic curriculum. You do not have to provide a reason for requesting the withdrawal, however we would recommend you discuss your concerns with Mr Quinn Headteacher.
